What is the IELTS Exam?

Next month ABC School will offer a new course to prepare for the IELTS Exam. If you don’t know exactly what this Exam is and it will be helpful for your, we will resolve all of your doubts right now! IELTS is ‘The International English Language Testing System’ and it is very popular around the world: over 2 million tests have been taken in the last year! Taking an IELTS test will help to open doors to international education and employment all over the globe because it has an excellent international reputation. • International Recognition: Over 8,000 institutions in 120 countries, including 3,000 US universities, recognise IELTS.

• Fast Results: The results are available after 13 days online. Your IELTS test report form will also be sent to you by registered post.

• You will cover the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking with a specific score for each. So you will be able to prove that you can communicate in English!

• Suitable for different necessities: IELTS is your exam if you are planning to study in the UK, in the USA or in Australia. Also if you need English for work or emigration purposes.

How is the exam? You will have to do four different tests: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Basically the time will be assigned like this:

• Listening: 40 questions - Approximately 30 minutes
• Reading: 40 questions - 60 minutes
• Writing: 2 tasks - 60 minutes
• Speaking: 3 parts -11–14 minute

When you are registering you can also choose between two different modules*: - Academic: is the best option for students, for example, who want to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels. - General Training if you wish to migrate to an English-speaking country, this option is more suitable for you. Also it is the best one if you wish to study at below degree level. *The Speaking and Listening tests are the same in both modules, but the Reading and Writing tests are different.
