Our Teacher Anna talks about her first month in ABC School.
2016 is the year of new things for me, starting with a new job.
I was understandably nervous before my first day at ABC, “What if the staff don’t like me?” “What if the students don’t like me?” “What if there’s a problem with the tube and I’m late for my first day?” The list goes on and on.
Thankfully my tube wasn’t delayed and the staff and students have all been incredibly warm, friendly and welcoming to me.
I’ve never taught Callan before and it is incredibly different from the style of teaching I’m used to, and my friends and family now have even more quirks to contend with, not only do I now sometimes stop and repeat what I consider to be ‘good’ words but now I repeat entire sentences; Callan style.
Over the last month I have really enjoyed every day at work, getting to know the students and the way the school operates, it’s lovely to see all the social activities (which I keep meaning to come along to, but Friday night autopilot keeps setting in and I remember when I’m on the tube half way home…. sorry).
My ABC adventure is only just beginning but I’m really looking forward to what’s ahead, and as the new kid on the block I can confirm that ABC School of English truly lives by its motto of “friendly learning”.
