A collocation is a combination of words commonly used together. Generally these combinations just sound "right" to native English speakers, who use them all the time. There are several different types of collocation made from combinations of verb, noun, adjective etc. Here are some examples: Spend time = to pass time doing some activity. Waste time = to do something that isn’t a good use of time. Make time = to find time in a busy schedule. Run out of time = to have no time left to continue or complete something. Highly successful = to have achieved a lot. Strongly opposed = to be firmly against something. Have a bath = to wash yourself in a bath. Take a break = to stop what you’re doing for a short while. Have lunch = to eat lunch. Make money = to receive money for work done. Pay the price = to suffer the consequences of your actions. Come close = to almost achieve something, but not succeed. Get a job = to find work. Make a profit = to earn money more than you spent. Save time = to use time efficiently.
