Student Visas FAQ's

  1. Do I need a visa to study at ABC School?All students from the outside European Union have to have a visa before arriving in the UK.
  2. What type of visa do I need?You can apply for General Student Visa (GSV) or Student Visitor Visa (SVV/ESVV). For full details please click here
  3. Can the school help me with my visa?Yes, if you decide to enroll with us we will provide you with an enrolment letter if you are applying for Student Visitor Visa/Extended Student Visitor Visa (SVV/ESVV) or a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) if you decide to apply for General Student Visa (GSV) under the Tier 4 of the Points of System.
  4. What do I have to do to apply for a student visa?You must prove that you will be studying full time (General English - 15 hours, excluding breaks or Callan Method courses - 20 lessons per week) and that you can support yourself financially while you are studying in the UK.
  5. How much money do I need?The money you need depends on the length of your course:    * For nine months or less you will need course fees and £800.00 to cover living costs for each calendar month of the course.    * For more than nine months you will need the first year`s fees and £7,200.00 to cover living costs for nine months in the UK.If you have already paid some of your fees or accommodation before applying for your visa, this amount will be taken away from the total amount of money you need to show. For accommodation, this only applies if you are staying in our school arranged accommodation.
  6. Am I allowed to work?No, students on the General Student Visas cannot take up any employment 
  7. Will I get a refund if my visa application is refused?If you cancel your course before arrival due to visa refusal, we will refund your course fees in full minus a £50 cancellation charge and the registration fee. There is a non refundable charge of £10 for CAS.Please note that we need to see the original refusal letter in order to give you a refund and you must apply for the refund within 6 months of the date of the visa refusal.   8. Will I get a refund if I change my mind and decide not to come to the UK?There are no refunds if you decide not to come and study in the UK, except when your visa has been refused. Please see the school’s terms and conditions for full details.Students are advised to take up travel insurance to cover themselves in these circumstances.
  9. What happens if my visa is delayed and I will arrive after start date of my course?If there are any delays in your visa application you must notify us as soon as possible. We will inform you what to do next.
