To the best of our knowledge, the information below is correct at the time of publication. Yet, we strongly recommend you to check the relevant websites and with the nearest High Commission for the most up-to-date information.
To obtain a student visa you must prove that you will be studying full time (20 lessons per week) and that you can support yourself financially while you are studying in the UK.
You will need to decide, in advance of your studies, what kind of visa you wish to apply for: the General Student Visa or the Student Visitor Visa. You must be at least 16.
Student Visitor Visa: If you want to study in the UK for six months or less you can choose to apply for a student visitor visa. The application fee is lower, but you cannot work and cannot extend your stay in the UK beyond six months under any circumstances.
If you are applying for entry clearance into the UK as a Student Visitor you need to complete
General Student Visa: If you are applying for a General Student Visa (sometimes called Adult Student Visa), you will need to send us some additional information when you apply for your course. Without this information we will not be able to provide the visa support letter you will need when you submit your visa application -
- We need to see proof that you have studied English to elementary level and be able to follow a pre-intermediate course (Common European Framework B1). This means that you can already understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases, can introduce yourself and others, and can answer questions about where you live, people you know and things you have.
- We need your full name and nationality exactly as it appears on your passport and your passport number.
There are a number of documents you can send us, a faxed copy or photocopy is sufficient, as you will need to submit the same original document with your visa application:
- a secondary school leaving certificate showing that you studied English
- a secondary school examination certificate showing your achievement in English
- an attendance certificate from evening classes in English
- a College certificate showing attendance at an English course
- a College certificate showing achievement in an English course
- a University certificate showing attendance at an English course
- University certificate showing achievement in an English course
- an internationally-recognised examination certificate (such as Cambridge certificates)
- a reference from an appropriately-qualified person stating your level of English
If your documents are not in English, you must send a fully certified translation by a professional translator.
If you are applying for a General Student Visa you need to complete two forms: and

If you have already paid some of your fees or accommodation before applying for your visa, this amount will be taken away from the total amount of money you need to show. For accommodation, this only applies if you are staying in our school arranged accommodation.
