ABC School - Blog
Maria Perez Martinez
We have interviewed our lovely student Maria about her experience in London and at ABC School of English. We have learnt her opinion about the school and the city and we have got to know her better. Thank you for taking the time to do the interview, Could you please tell me something about yourself: studies, job, hobbies, and dreams? My name is Maria and I'm Spanish. I was born in Valencia, a city close to the beach in the east of Spain. I am 32 years old and I have lived in different cities in Spain before coming to live in London. I studied HR in the University of Valencia and I've always had jobs related to this. I love sports and I practice different ones when I have time, another thing that I'm passionate about is travelling and my holidays are dedicated to travel around the world. Why did you decide to come to London?

I decided a year ago with my husband because he was moved to London for his job. On top of that, we thought it was a good opportunity to learn a new language, new cultures… and why not grow in our professional career?

How do you find life in London? Life in London has being an amazing experience so far. London is a huge city and you can find a lot of things to do, it doesn’t matter what your preferences are, you can find whatever you want at any time. Why did you choose ABC school?

I was certain that I wanted to learn English with the Callan Method, after looking at different websites, ABC school was in the top 10 schools using this method in London. I decided to visit 3 different schools; ABC was the best one because of the location, I had a warm welcome when I went to ask for information and, considering all this, it was the best in my opinion.

What’s your opinion of the Callan Method/ our General English course?

(Callan Method.) In my opinion it is the best way to learn English. It’s a fast method to improve because during the lesson you are in constant activity, to answer, ask, etc. instead of spending the whole time reading a book; I can practice what I'm learning. I can improve my speaking, which is what I was looking for, because what I want is to be able to speak with other people in English. Without forgetting the grammar or writing. On top of that you have the opportunity to create relationships with others students and teachers.

What are your plans for the future? I would like to be focussed on my studies until the end of March; that is when I have planned to start to look for a new job in London with the aim of putting into practice everything I learnt in the school and advance in my professional career. Ok Maria, thank you for your time! Thank you very much!
